MANUFACTURING ENGINEER MANAGER

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the maintenance, tooling, and engineering departments, facilitating efficient manufacturing operations across the organization.

  • Participates in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Operations & Director of Engineering to set and assess priorities across teams.
  • Assess cost effective and feasibility of manufacturing processes; makes and implements recommendations to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Supervises tooling operations, ensuring all work is performed accurately and according to quality, safety, and CER project standards.
  • Provides guidance and oversight in development and execution of plant renovations and expansion, coordinate outside contractors and vendors.
  • Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize, use of space, equipment, material, and personnel.
  • Manages the engineering staff and assigns task to engineering and technical personnel.
  • Create new processes and procedures or update to current ones to address and provide a foundation for continuous improvement.
  • Assure deliverables and other technical documentation including BOMs, routings and engineering drawings are accurate prior to final release of documentation.
  • Work closely with product management, product engineering, production management, and quality to prevent problems with products, processes, and tooling/fixtures.
  • Assists the Maintenance Supervisor and/or other appropriate leadership with programs, activities, and responsibilities of the maintenance department.
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines, including EPA and OSHA requirements.
  • Prepares and implements the capital expense and departmental budgets.
  • Generate KPIs to measure and report on the success of the team.  Measure teams’ performance as well as our performance against customer expectations.
  • Formulate weekly status reports and forward for Operations Director.
