HAGER COMPANIES LEED LETTER
LEED 2009 and LEED v4/v4.1 Certification – Contribution from: Door Hardware
This correspondence is regarding the use of several of our products to help achieve Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification. It references the LEED Green Building Rating System for New Construction & Major Renovations (LEED – NC) as published by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Specific credits that apply to our products are as follows:
RECYCLED CONTENT:
LEED 2009: MR 4 Credits. Combined Post Consumer plus one-half Pre-Consumer ≥ 10% of the total cost of all the materials in the project to earn one point or 20% of the total cost of all materials to earn two points for the project. Content as defined by ISO 14021 – Environmental labels and declarations – Self-declared environmental claims (Type II environmental labeling).
LEED v4 BD+C Sourcing of Raw Materials. Projects can receive one point when products meet at least one of the criteria, one of which is Recycled Content, for at least 25% of the total cost of all materials within a project. Recycled Content is found under the credit Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Sourcing of Raw Materials, Option 2.

LEED 2009: MR 5 Credit: Extracted and Manufactured Regionally (< 500 miles from project)
LEED v4 BC+C Location Valuation Factor (< 100 miles from project)
*Butt hinges, door pulls, protection plates, push/pull plates, weather-stripping, thresholds, and Roton hinges are manufactured in Montgomery, AL, 36105. Lockset, exit devices, door closers, stainless steel continuous hinges, flush bolts, and floor/wall stops do not qualify for Regional Materials credit.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION (EPD):
LEED v4 BC+C Building Product Disclosure and Optimization - Environmental Product Declaration, Option 1. EPDs explain the environmental impacts of the product. Projects can earn one point when there are EDPs for at least 20 different permanently installed products from at least five different manufacturers.
