CONSTRUCT CSI 2014

We will be exhibiting at the 2014 CSI CONSTRUCT Show in Baltimore, Maryland this September 10th & 11th. This is always a fun show for us for a variety of reasons but mainly the people. We always meet new friends and it is great catching up with old pals.

Each year we try to think of something clever and useful to giveaway as “the” prize. We were struggling with this a few weeks ago when we heard that in 2015 the CSI CONSTRUCT show will be in St. Louis – our home city. Boy that got the ol’ juices flowing on possible prizes. We wanted to showcase both St. Louis & our company and with that in mind we developed the “Meet Me in St. Louis” prize package.

Stop by Booth 349 and unlock the opportunity to win the following:

If the key you choose unlocks the deadbolt you will be able to drop your business card into the box. At the end of the show we will draw one card and that will be the lucky winner.

We hope you will stop by, test how lucky you are and also take a look at our newest products.

See you in Baltimore!

CONSTRUCT Bloggers Panel

The construction industry has been slow in accepting social media and blogging as a form of communications, educating and networking. This writer has been in the door and hardware industry for 20 years and on social media for 6 years so it was with interest I attended the Blogger’s Panel at the 2013 CONSTRUCT show. The panel was filled with other like-minded industry professionals that understood the value of this new platform. More …

Roton – The Originator

Austin Baer earned a patent for his design of hinge leaves with intermeshed gears in 1963. He earned a second patent, in 1968, for adding thrust bearings to his original design. The patent expired in 1985 and Hager Companies purchased Mr. Baer’s company in 1989.

The continuous hinge, with intermeshed gears and thrust bearings, allows the weight of the door to be distributed over the entire door length rather than concentrated on two or three spots as is the case with pivot or standard hinges. This provides an excellent solution to heavy traffic or abused door openings in new or existing construction. More …

The Door and Hardware Institute – #DHI2014

This week many in our industry will be converging in Dallas for the 2014 DHI CoNEXTions Convention. Several members of the Hager Companies team will be there. Why do we choose to take the time, energy, and dollars to exhibit at DHI CoNEXTions? Simple: because our customers will be there.

The Door and Hardware Institute’s purpose is “to advance life safety and security within a built environment.”  DHI is also an advocate for creating a favorable code environment in the life safety and security industry. They have been instrumental in supporting changes to code to save lives, like the new code for annual fire door inspections.

Welcome to the new Hager Companies blog

Throughout the 165 years that Hager Companies has been in business there have been many forms of communication between our company and our customers. We are delighted to add this newest format.
Our goal, with this blog, will be to educate, share some cool projects and have fun. We want you to get involved too. Ask questions, send in photos of door hardware – the good and the bad, and the ugly. Also share tips on installation of hardware or anything related to doors.
