Friday Fun

At Hager, we are passionate about door hardware. It’s one of the reasons we added locks, exit devices, and door controls to our product line several years ago.  Last year we partnered with Salto Systems to create our Hager powered by Salto electronic access control line. Our goal is to provide our customers with the products, service, knowledge, and partnership to elevate the value they bring to the channel.

Yet, we can’t forget our history so today we are going to throw it back a few decades with a light-hearted post.

These cartoons were created from the “inspired pens of America’s most famous cartoonists” – Tom Henderson, Virgil Partch, Lichty, Irwin Caplan, and Larry Reynolds in 1952 for our “Everything Hinges on Hager” campaign.  Let us know if any resonate with you!

Monday was Labor Day which marked the official end of summer, but there is still time to get out and enjoy the sun (make sure to lather up with sunscreen!).

Going Green – A Special Week

This week has been a special one in St. Louis. The 100th PGA Championship is being held at the Bellerive Country Club. What does this have to do with door hardware you may ask? We’ll get there, you just have to scroll through a lot of golf photos first.

There are a lot of golf fans and players on the Hager team. Many of our customer and sales outings take place on a golf course.  When it was announced that the PGA would hold their 100th tournament in St. Louis a cheer went up and plans were made. We have several team members volunteering and attending the event this week.  Below are pictures taken through August 9th. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram to see photos from the final three days.

Fuzzy Credentials

A sales representative was in a customer’s office recently with our 34K Series Standalone lock. The customer was reviewing the brochure when he noted one of the additional features was a “fuzzy credential entry available” and asked what it was.

It’s a good question and the answer may help dispell the image that just popped into your head from hearing the term fuzzy credential.

The Next Generation

The gifted class from the Central Christian School visited Hager headquarters a few weeks ago. They were learning about the engineering profession and the different types of engineer specialties. A daughter of our COO, Josh Hager, is in the class and he offered to have the students visit Hager and hear from our engineers what they do.

Mark McRae, our Director of Engineering, and Daniel Sprehe, a Product Engineer, spoke with the students about the engineering process a product takes, from conception to manufacturing.  They spoke about how once a design has been approved a prototype is created along with the amount of testing it takes before a product is ready to be sold. They also shared the difference between a mechanical and electronic engineer and how they work together.

A Review of DHI ConNextions 2018

Have you had a chance to catch your breath?  What an amazing few days in Baltimore at DHI ConNextions.  One of the best things about being in the Door and Hardware Industry is the fact it’s a relatively small group of people. Typically, at one point or another in our careers, we have either worked with or have known of one another for many years.  So, when we attend and exhibit at ConNextions it really is like a family reunion.

Hager had a lot of representation both from St. Louis headquarters, including the Hager Family, and our wonderful sales representatives.

Wednesday many team members attended the keynote presentation “Beyond Tragedy: Response and Recovery in a School Based Crisis”. The speaker was Michele Gay, a mother and former teacher, who helped founded Safe and Sound: A Sandy Hook Initiative.  It was a powerful presentation about her day on December 14, 2012, when her daughter was one of 26 people who was shot at Sandy Hook Elementary school.  Her strength and courage were felt throughout the room.  Her words reignited our mission to provide great products at a fair price with exceptional customer service to keep occupants of buildings safe and secure.

DHI ConNextions 2018 – Booth 319

Next week, several members of the Hager Family and team members will head to Baltimore for the annual DHI ConNextions show.

For the Hager team, this show is all about connecting with our customers.  We want to hear what’s new in their lives and businesses; collaborate our efforts in order to grow their sales; and, of course, showcase our new products. In the last year, we’ve released the following products:

We will also have demonstrations with our HS4 Electronic Access Control products including the newest communication platform BLUEnet. We are especially excited by BLUEnet’s ability to provide a real-time (within 4 seconds) lock communication, keeping people safer in an active shooter situation.

We look forward to seeing you!

Thanksgiving 2016

Thanksgiving has arrived and the year is almost over.  We will be closed November 24th & 25th so our team members can enjoy Thanksgiving and a long weekend with family and friends.

Before the R&R&E (rest, relaxation and eating) begins, we want to start it off with some gratitude. We have a lot of people to be grateful for.

  • Our many team members who show up every day with the willingness to serve our customers with a smile .
  • Our representatives that go the extra mile, in the car, on foot, and always with our customers.
  • The Hager family who provide a first-class workplace and respect their ancestor’s traditions while moving the company forward.
  • The building communities where we share knowledge and successes.
  • And of course, we are grateful for you. Without your loyalty and dedication Hager Companies would not be celebrating its 167th year!

We hope you are able to take some time to relax and enjoy the long weekend with whatever makes you happy!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Texas Society of Architects 2016 Convergence – Booth 229

We’ll be heading down to San Antonio, Texas in a few weeks to exhibit at the 2016 Texas Society of Architects Design Expo. This is one of the premier regional architectural shows in the country. Architects take this show seriously and are extremely generous with their time on the expo hall floor.

Last year we highlighted our new 9400 Series stainless steel sliding barn door hardware. This year, we added the Conestoga to our sliding door hardware line, which is powder coated black aluminum for a rustic appearance. There are four styles of hangers offered; three face-mount and one top-mount. Sliding barn doors continue to be a popular choice with architects and end users. In addition to saving floor space, sliding doors also meet ADA requirements and are easy for people with disabilities to use.

With the Conestoga as the latest addition, we feel our sliding door hardware product line provides a variety of design choices for your architectural needs. Of course, we will have many other product lines on display too.

Several of these photos were taken at the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. You can catch additional photos over on our Instagram account here.
