Position Summary

Serve as commercial door hardware applications specialist to Hager Companies, its customers, and architectural community, on an as needed basis. Provide assistance, coaching, and technical product training to sales and customer service coordinators, as well as new products training and refresher courses for all product lines.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare quotes on special purpose hardware.
  • Provide advanced technical support to the Hager Companies’ sales and customer service departments.
  • Serve as applications support and technical liaison between Hager Companies sales & marketing, customer service, owners, architects, contract distributors, and other channel partners.
  • Consult with customers and sales reps to define the best fit hardware for specific applications
  • Support technical bulletins, installation instructions, and other related documents, for insertion onto the Hager catalog and Web site.
  • Provide suggestions as to technical information required by all sales and customer service staff members.
  • Handle quality issues with defective product by inputting claims and entering replacement orders for these products.
  • Handle inspections of Returned Goods (RGAs)
  • Provide suggestions to Hager’s product managers and engineers as it pertains to product improvement or improving written product documentation.
  • Assist the engineering and marketing teams in performing root cause analysis and corrective actions for product improvement.
  • Enter keying requirements according to the key design into keying system.
  • System Design and Troubleshooting of low voltage electronics and access control
  • Travel, as required, for training purposes and product troubleshooting
Position Qualifications Requirements

Education / Knowledge: BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a broad knowledge of doors and hardware application. AHC - architectural hardware consultant or EHC – Electronic hardware consultant certification preferred. Must have an understanding of Master Keyed, Keyed Alike, Construction Master Keyed and Keyed Different systems. Understanding of electromechanical and electrified product and how they interact with mechanical hardware is required. Understanding of basic low voltage electricity and circuits/relays including electronics troubleshooting a must. Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and use of a multimeter is required.

Experience: Three to five years of experience in a similar position. Hardware installation experience is preferred.

Skills: Good verbal and written communication, public relations, public speaking and presentation skills. Project management, attention to detail, and PC skills including experience with Microsoft office products. Mechanical aptitude is important. Must have multi-tasking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Activities/Demands: Normal office environment which requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and see. May involve the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects of up to 15 to 20 pounds, infrequently.
