Reports to: Group Vice President & CFO

Position Summary

To lead in the development and management of the company's system infrastructure and communications technology in order to provide the most efficient support for current operations and future information technology needs. Help find business solutions through technology and co-lead the ERP implementation.

Job Functions

  • Confer with organizational personnel to ascertain specific requirements, time frame, and methods and procedures to accomplish projects.
  • Analyze and design specific systems and databases to meet requirements and develop corresponding databases, programs and schedules and work plans to complete projects.
  • Define workflow and user procedures and prepare program implementation, testing and installation notes.
  • Oversee the encoding, testing, debugging, and installation of new operating programs and procedures.
  • Prepare, document, and integrate updates, modifications, and corrections into existing programs.
  • Develop ongoing training to help respond to user questions on existing programs and resolve user identified problems or bottlenecks with specific programs.
  • Provide leadership in suggesting ways to implement and use individual programs through ensuring appropriate use of programs and preparation of system and program documentation as well as user operation instructions.
  • Install, implement and use purchased software packages, developing new programs as necessary, modifying programs, and testing and debugging all operating features of the software.
  • Review and confirm individual program inputs and outputs.
  • Conduct periodic follow-ups to validate successful implementation of programs.
  • Monitor and tune Oracle databases as needed to maintain effective processing of transactions and reports.
  • Design and implement new databases as needed to support end user requirements.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Evaluate PC and Telecommunications hardware and software business needs with documented reports as well as cost justification information.
  • Develop, implement, and support procedures for acquiring and registering software licenses.
  • Develop and implement adequate network backup procedures.
  • Plan, manage and maintain voice and data communications network between all company facilities.
  • Recommend and implement adequate PC and network software security and virus detection and prevention software and procedures.
  • Review and recommend hardware and software upgrades and changes as needed to support business and technology changes.
  • Provide expertise and support during systems upgrades, installations, conversions, and file maintenance.
  • Prepare status reports and cost benefit analysis for projects as needed.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
  • Manage financial aspects of the IT department, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
  • Manage activities of IT staff, including hiring, training, evaluation, guidance discipline and discharge.
  • Develop the IT staff to meet the changing needs of users, groups and offices, new projects and technologies and varying staff strengths.
Position Qualification Requirements

Education/Knowledge: Requires a bachelor’s degree in Data Processing, Business or Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Ten years of progressive IT experience. Three years’ experience in a management capacity.

Skills: Customer service orientation, excellent verbal and written communication skills and analytical abilities. Strong project management, organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to lead a team of technical staff, to work with Executive Management and to manage multiple concurrent projects. Strong working knowledge of Oracle databases and programming tools. Strong working knowledge of and ability to support Windows, NT, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and other miscellaneous packages as required by business needs.
